Step-by-Step Guide to Detail, Clay Bar, Machine Polish, and Ceramic Coat an Aircraft using Gtechniq

Step 1: Pre-wash

Before you begin detailing your aircraft, it's important to pre-wash it to remove any loose dirt, dust, or debris. This can be done using a pressure washer or a hose with a nozzle attachment. Make sure to cover all areas of the aircraft, including the underside, wings, and tail.

Step 2: Wash

After pre-washing, use a high-quality aircraft soap and a wash mitt to wash the aircraft thoroughly. This will remove any remaining dirt or grime. Rinse the aircraft thoroughly with clean water.

Step 3: Clay Bar

Once the aircraft is clean, it's time to clay bar it. A clay bar is used to remove any embedded contaminants from the paint surface, such as tree sap or bird droppings. To clay bar, spray the clay lubricant onto a small area of the aircraft and gently rub the clay bar over the surface. Repeat until you have covered the entire aircraft.

Step 4: Machine Polish

After clay barring, it's time to machine polish the aircraft. This will remove any light scratches or swirl marks from the paint surface, leaving a smooth, mirror-like finish. Use a dual-action polisher with a foam pad and a polishing compound. Apply the compound to the pad and work it into the paint surface using the polisher. Repeat until you have covered the entire aircraft.

Once the aircraft has been machine polished, it's time to apply the Gtechniq Crystal Serum. This is a high-quality ceramic coating that will protect the paint surface from UV rays, acid rain, and other environmental contaminants. Apply the serum using a soft foam applicator pad and work it into the paint surface. Let it cure for at least 24 hours before exposing the aircraft to any moisture.
