For better results, wet sanding prior to machine polishing is highly recommended as it is an important step in the process of refinishing or restoring the finish on a vehicle's paint or other surfaces. Wet sanding helps to level out imperfections such as deep scratches, orange peel texture, and other uneven areas on the surface. This creates a smoother foundation for the subsequent polishing steps. If you were to skip wet sanding and directly start machine polishing, the polishing process might not be as effective. The polishing pads and compounds may have difficulty addressing deep defects, and you might not achieve the desired level of gloss and clarity. For more on wet sanding, click here
